Halloween make up!

Day 2 of blogging?!!
...surely this is a good start no?!

Tonight as I sat cosied in my Minnie mouse blanket drinking endless cups of tea, (I'm ill so I do not feel bad about achieving only this today!) I have been trawling through the reams of Halloween makeup online. I don't mean the slasher, eyeballs hanging out of head, broken jaw kind of FX makeup.*shudder* I mean the pretty, "I can make Halloween look cool and effortless" kind of make up.

So, as you can see where this is going, I saw some pics...thought "I can easily do that!" and grabbed my makeup bag.

I was so wrong.

Halloween makeup is NOT easy. I went for a perfectly contoured skeleton look. easy right?!!

...black EVERYWHERE!!

...and then I realised I had nothing in my makeup bag that was white?! ..pretty much a staple colour of a skeleton hmm?! I used concealer...and lots of highlighter!!! more than I had ever used on my face before, I then began to become very paranoid about pores... started freaking out and immediately wanted to wash it off.

it's safe to say...I don't think Halloween make up is for me...I think I'll stick to being a Disney princess for the 3rd year running...theres no harm in that!
(and no risk of pore clogging either)

Before I rushed for the cleanser I managed a couple of snaps. I guess it doesn't look too bad...just don't zoom in...please!

Absence makes the heart grow...fonder?!

errmmm...hello?
Ok so I have neglected my blog. I know, I dont know why I thought I could even dream of blogging twice a week...once a week...once a month?...ok even once a year...when I can't even txt back my friends and I have my phone in my hand all the time!!!!! what is wrong with me you ask?! I don't even know...lets not go there. But anyway, I'm going to think of my blog as one of those absent friends that you never see or hear from and then out of the blue you catch up, and you know what, it's great! like you had never been apart!!

So hello to anyone who is listening and thank you for being my absent friend. And even if nobody is, I enjoy writing, so I guess if I'm only here for that and a bit of escapism then theres no harm in it!
...so, I'm not going to make any commitments or promises. I'll see you when I see you...but that doesn't mean I love you any less!

Wedding Drama

Why is it that when you're going somewhere you can never find anything to wear but when you have nothing to go to you see so many outfits?!!!

Last weekend I went to a wedding, so obviously, needed a new outfit,(None of the 50 dresses I currently own would clearly cut it) and I struggled. Like really struggled. Did I go coord? Dress? Jumpsuit? Culottes? Ah! Such a stress. I'm not a very girly girl and NEVER wear the kind of girly floaty floral pieces expected for the likes of a wedding. Black is more my scene but as I am reminded all the time "it's not a funeral".

So I went on the hunt for a pretty but edgy, floral but grungy outfit. Easy right?!

I went everywhere and couldn't find a thing... I love a skirt and top combo... so I bought 3 (oops) but nothing was right. (Although they will be kept, "just Incase" :P) I realised I had to give in and go for a girly dress...it was the easiest option!

So just when I had given up hope I decided to try a shop I have very rarely been in...Dorothy Perkins. The first dress I seen was perfect!!...it is very girly fitted with an Aline hem...floral...pink...but with an oriental feel. Completely different to my usual style but I love it!!...it was so nice to get dressed up and proves that you should never get stuck in a style rut and be open to stepping out of your comfort zone. It's also very important not to dismiss a brand or shop because it's not "you". You never know what you might find!!!

Happy shopping girls!

Simple Styling...

Sometimes, no matter how fun it is to follow and experiment with new trends, nothing can beat a good pair of jeans, tee and trainers...perfectly understated fashion.

Its so good to go back to basics so my most recent purchases have been my new regular ripped denim Skinny jeans, boy fit white slogan tee (both from River Island) and my brand new gold studded Vans which I am absolutely in love with!! They are so comfy and go perfectly with any outfit...and the studs dress things up a little bit!

...I'm not generally one for getting dressed up...I'm not a particularly girly girl when it comes to fashion...I find it a struggle in summer to wear colour as I am automatically drawn to dark neutral tones...(my mum calls me grungy!) ..Ive found that trying to bring white into my wardrobe is an easier way for me to stay summery without losing my own style...

To be honest...I really cant wait for Autumn/winter!! ...roll on the time for it to be acceptable to wear all black and grey.....and boots!!!! ...sorry girls...but bring on the layering!!

Does anybody else think this way?!! ooops!

Out of sight...

ok...so...I've been off the radar for a good month or so!!!...I thought it was about time to say that I am still here...I haven't left the blogging world just yet!!...
It wasnt until this morning when I was doing my make up that I realised my blog was being seriously neglected...and to all my new followers I would like to say thank you!...
So I decided that I had to tell everyone about my new make up revelation!!
I love trying new mascaras and so far my all time fave is Benefits 'they're real' ...but this time I decided to try Too Faced 'better than sex' ...Now at first I was sceptical...with such a name comes high expectations!...and at first I was a bit disappointed as I found the first couple of days trialing it out to be somewhat messy!...but now I absolutely love it!!!...it gives really good coverage, lengths and lifts...it also doesn't dry my lashes out as much as I found with 'they're real'.
I am really lucky to have been blessed with naturally long eyelashes but I think that this mascara really accentuates them and would be perfect for those looking for added length and the doll eyed look.
It is pricier than drugstore brands but I believe that a good mascara is an essential!..it is the one thing I couldn't leave the house without so investing that little bit extra in a good one seems a fair trade for amazing lashes!
Go try it yourself and let me know what you think!..remember to remove it well at night to keep your lashes in good condition...every mascara will damage your lashes!!

Good Make-up days...

Do you ever have one of those days or nights when you love your make up so much that you really grudge taking it off?!! ...it seems like such a waste!! My skin has cleared up a lot recently...I cant quite put my finger on the reason yet but the right products and cleanser definitely do make a difference!! I have swapped my regular clinique even better moisturisor for Loreal Revitalift Q10 Repair BB cream. Don't get me wrong, my Clinique moisturisor has been a staple for years and really helped me to diminish the red blemishes on my skin caused by acne, but I think as I have gotten older my skin has adapted and such a rich moisturisor has become too harsh. I love my BB cream...it is the perfect base for my Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation. I have found that using this combination has resulted in a long lasting coverage, even throughout a working day in quite a physical job!!...I have never had to reapply my makeup throughout the day since swapping to BB cream which I think has also helped the appearance of my skin.

I have recently revisited my old favourite Mascara, Benefit 's  They're Real. It is the ultimate mascara!!! I'm lucky enough to have long lashes, and have never worn falsies, but this product really is the best if you want to create the much sought after doll eyed look! I couldn't recommend it enough!!...although be prepared for some serious eye cleansing to remove all residue...it can be very stubborn!!

I decided to write this blogpost as I was contemplating taking my makeup off...Sometimes this is my favourite part of the day...especially when I'm tired! (all that mascara can make your eyes feel very heavy!) but sometimes it can be disheartening...especially when your make up is on fleek and you havent left the house for its full appreciation!!!

None the less I am about to reluctantly remove my makeup with Loreals Skin Perfecting Cleansing Milk for sensitive skin. I have tried so many cleansers in the past but this one seems to be working well for me just now!...I much prefer a cleansing milk using cotten wool pads to a cleansing wash as they tend to dry my skin out too much. After thats done I am heading straight to bed with a cup of tea...getting LOTS of beauty sleep does wonders for the skin as well!...or so I tell myself...maybe I'm just lazy...ha!

Night all!
